Description

DORSCH CONSULT was retained by Wintershall AG to plan the Rehden underground pore reservoir for gas storage including one compressor station. This involved extending the already extracted pore reservoir and connecting it  to the core MIDAL/STEGAL natural gas pipeline system. The new underground storage reservoir is one of the largest of its kind in Germany.

The compressor station required for the input and withdrawal of the gas to and from the core system has the following capacities:

Storage volume:

  • 1st Development Stage 1.5 bn m3
  • 2nd Development Stage 3.0 bn m3

Withdrawal rate:

  • 700 000 N m3/h and comprises two gas turbine driven
  • radial turbo-compressor units

In addition the installation embraces the following structures:

  • compressor hall
  • gas volume meter station
  • electrical measuring and control building
  • gas dryer
  • gas purifier
  • gas aftercooler
  • pipe runs within installation

The entire installation was approved in accordance with BIMSCHG (German Federal Immission Protection Law).
