Description

The project involves the new construction of a high school for 1,100 students of grades 9 through 12. The two-story building complex is located in the eastern area of the Kaiserslautern-Vogelweh military installation and is administered by the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) of the United States Department of Defense.

The design meets the criteria for a 21st century educational facility, as outlined in guidelines developed by DODEA. One of the major advances is the shift from using individual classrooms to grouping several differently sized areas together and eliminating the traditional division of educational and common spaces, thereby making every area within a 21st century school an opportunity to learn.

Dorsch architects and engineers from Wiesbaden, alongside Reinhold Weis, are now designing a second, large US High School. This follows the successful completion of all design phases for the Kaiserslautern High School and its recent construction launch.
