Description

Dorsch Gruppe has been awarded the Detailed Engineering Design and Bidding Document of Al-Graia’at Bridge and Its Approaches across Tigris River in Iraqi Capital, Baghdad. The iconic design promises the architecture of a new modern landmark in Baghdad reflecting on the wealth of civilization and solidifying a futuristic vision of modern Iraq flowing over the river Tigris.

With an anticipated design period of 6 months followed by a provisional execution duration of 24 months; the awarded design inspired by Arabian elements, sees a mixture of creativity and reliability; a coined element of the new roads system connecting Al-Graia’at area in Al-Rusafa district in the East to Al-Kadhimiya area in Al-Karkh district in the West. The proximity of the proposed design to public garages - distributing traffic movements to different garages in Baghdad - guarantees a reduction in traffic congestion through providing a passing over river Tigris.

The charm of the suspension bridge proposed design lies in the orchestrated use of space. Utilizing the bridge’s pylon, the design introduces a recreational centre located in isle at the base of the bridge to complement the spectacular structure. The building comprising of shops, cafés & restaurants, cinema, a museum and gallery with panoramic views of the isle and the city promising visitors a unique experience enabling them to access a world-class structure with intricate details.
