Rehabilitation of platforms at Dessau station designed by GRE

Dessau is the city most closely associated with the Bauhaus school of design founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar in 1919. The platforms at Dessau main station have been extensively modernized. The platform edges and the flooring were renewed. The platform roofs and their drainage were also repaired and a modern LED lighting was implemented.

On behalf of Deutsche Bahn, GRE German Rail Engineering was responsible for basic evaluation, preliminary, basic, tender and final design as well as for the preparation of tender documents. What made this project special was the involvement of the students of the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, who were responsible for the development of the visual design of the platforms.
